The 24/7 Lures Chubby Needle is built for surfcasters who need extra casting distance and a faster sink. Weighing just over 3 ounces with a tail-weighted design, it punches through wind, reaches beyond the breakers, and sinks more quickly than traditional slow-sinking needlefish plugs.

While it excels as a fast-sinking, tail-down needlefish, the Chubby Needle is also versatile enough to work on the surface like a pencil popper. To keep it on top, close the bail or engage the reel as soon as the lure lands, get the line tight, and begin working it immediately. This surface presentation can be extremely effective when more traditional retrieves aren’t producing.

A longtime favorite among Northeast surfcasters, the Chubby Needle has developed an especially strong following around Montauk and the east end of Long Island, earning it the nickname “Montauk Special.”

The Chubby Needle comes rigged with one belly treble hook and a custom-tied flag on the tail loop, with no rear hook. Anglers can easily add a dressed or undressed single hook—or a treble hook—to the rear if preferred. The single-hook setup provides a more fish-friendly option while also making striped bass easier and safer to handle.
