Shimano Cardiff A

The Shimano Cardiff A is a classic round baitcasting reel built for anglers who want smooth, reliable performance in a simple, durable package.

Its aluminum frame provides a solid feel under load, while Shimano’s Variable Brake System (VBS) helps control spool speed for more consistent casting. The Cardiff A is a great fit for freshwater techniques that benefit from a round reel’s line capacity and cranking power, including larger swimbaits, crankbaits, trolling, and other heavier presentations. Shimano currently classifies the Cardiff A in its round baitcast lineup.

Key Features

• Round baitcasting design

• Aluminum frame

• Smooth, dependable retrieve

• Good line capacity for heavier presentations

Red Top Tip: The Cardiff A is a great choice when you want a traditional round reel with more line capacity and cranking leverage than a compact low-profile baitcaster—especially for larger freshwater plugs and heavier presentations.
