Shimano Grappler Type C A Popping Spin

The Shimano Grappler Type C is a dedicated offshore casting rod built for throwing topwater and subsurface lures at tuna and other hard-charging pelagic fish.

Shimano’s Spiral X and Hi-Power X blank technologies increase torsional and compressional rigidity without adding unnecessary weight, helping the rod cast efficiently while maintaining the power needed during tough fights. The redesigned blank also gives the Grappler Type C a versatile feel for working poppers, stickbaits, and other casting lures throughout the upper water column.

A V-Hold front grip improves comfort and stability when the rod is loaded up, especially during longer fights with powerful fish.

Around Cape Cod, the Grappler Type C is a strong choice for casting to breaking bluefin tuna, working topwater feeds, and throwing large stickbaits or poppers offshore.
