The Shimano Saragosa SW is a heavy-duty saltwater spinning reel built for anglers who need power, durability, and smooth performance under load.
Shimano’s Infinity Drive increases winding torque when fighting hard-pulling fish, while the rigid HAGANE Body helps prevent flex and keeps the drivetrain aligned under pressure. A precision-cut HAGANE Gear provides smooth, powerful cranking for demanding inshore and offshore applications.
For saltwater protection, the Saragosa SW features an IPX8-rated waterproof body, a waterproof Cross Carbon Drag, and Shimano’s X-Protect system to help keep water away from critical components.
The 6000 size is one of our favorite all-around boat sizes. It has enough line capacity and drag for stripers, bluefish, albies, bonito, and general inshore jigging, while still staying compact and comfortable enough to fish all day. It’s a great fit for anglers who want one versatile spinning reel for Cape Cod Bay, Vineyard Sound, Buzzards Bay, and similar boat applications.
The 14000 size is a great crossover reel for anglers who fish heavy striped bass tackle in the Cape Cod Canal but also want a setup capable of stepping into recreational bluefin tuna fishing. It provides the larger line capacity, stronger drag capability, and heavier-duty feel needed for big Canal fish while still being a practical spinning option for casting or jigging for school-size bluefin.

Red Top Tip: If you’re primarily fishing from the boat, the 6000 is the sweet spot for an all-around Cape setup. If you want a reel that can handle heavy Canal stripers and also cross over into recreational bluefin, the 14000 is the size we’d look at first.
