The Shimano TLD and TLD II series are proven lever drag conventional reels built for trolling, chunking, bottom fishing, and other demanding saltwater applications.
The standard TLD models use a simple, reliable single-speed design that keeps weight and cost down while still giving anglers the line capacity and drag control needed for serious boat fishing.
The TLD II steps up to a 2-speed drivetrain, allowing anglers to fish a higher gear for line pickup and instantly shift into low gear for added cranking power when fighting larger fish. Shimano also uses corrosion-resistant A-RB bearings to improve durability in saltwater environments.
The TLD 30II is a versatile offshore size with up to 33 lb of drag, a 4.0:1 high gear and 1.7:1 low gear. It offers plenty of capacity for trolling, chunking, and heavier Northeast boat fishing without stepping all the way up to a 50-size reel.
The TLD 50II LRS is the heavy-duty option of the lineup and is built for larger fish and heavier tackle. The LRS version produces up to 42 lb of drag and uses a 3.5:1 high gear with a powerful 1.4:1 low gear, making it a strong fit for heavy trolling, chunking, and stand-up tuna applications.

Red Top Tip: For Cape Cod offshore fishing, the standard TLD is a great value for general trolling and bait fishing. The 30II is a strong all-around tuna and offshore reel, while the 50II LRS is the better choice when you want heavier drag, more line capacity, and low-gear cranking power for larger bluefin.
